Twisted Sister has cancelled their planned concert during Tons of Rock 2026. Both the festival and the band confirm this today.
The reason is vocalist Dee Snider’s health problems, which make it impossible to carry out the planned 50th anniversary tour. The tour was scheduled to start in São Paulo on April 25 and continue throughout the summer, but now all concerts have been cancelled.
In a statement, the band explains that Dee Snider has retired as frontman after a period marked by serious health challenges. The 70-year-old rock veteran suffers from degenerative arthritis and has undergone several surgeries in recent years to be able to perform. In recent years, he has only been able to perform a limited number of songs at a time, often in severe pain.

The statement also shows that the strain from a long life of high-octane rock has affected Snider’s heart. He emphasizes that he can no longer push himself as he once did.
– “I can’t rock in any other way. The thought of calming down is unacceptable to me. I’d rather walk away than become a shadow of myself,” says Snider.
Furthermore, the band writes that Twisted Sisters’ future will be decided in the next few weeks.
Tons of Rock shows understanding for the decision and sends warm thoughts to Snider.
“We wish Dee a speedy recovery,” the festival writes, adding that updates on the program for Tons of Rock 2026 will come in late February or early March.
The concerts were intended to mark the band’s 50th anniversary, but the celebration has now been put on hold while the band considers the way forward.
