Talk about not reading the room! – Just like his orange friend the White House who believes that the world is his to plunder without consequence, Gianni INfantino believes he is the savior of football and that he deserves at least a million pounds a week offered to him by the Trump family’s friends if they get the football stolen.
Gianni Infantino has announced that he will run for re-election as FIFA president in March 2027 – this despite growing opposition from European football in particular and a number of controversies that have characterized his time in office.

Under Infantino’s leadership, FIFA has been marked by several major scandals. Among the most talked about are the plans to sell stakes in FIFA tournaments to private investment companies led by Kushner. – a proposal that triggered fierce criticism and led UEFA to threaten a boycott of the World Cup. The plan was eventually shelved, but revealed a growing gap between world football’s most powerful body and European football associations.
In addition, Infantino has been the subject of criticism for a lack of transparency about FIFA’s finances, extensive travel expenses and attempts to expand the World Cup to 48 teams – a decision many believe has weakened the tournament’s quality and sporting integrity. His handling of human rights issues in connection with the World Cup in Qatar has also been heavily criticized, where he was repeatedly accused of downplaying serious violations.
Infantino has held the position since 2016 and was long expected to secure a second term without a serious challenger. But the increased opposition, especially from Europe, has made his re-election far more uncertain than previously thought.
Now, FIFA has confirmed that Infantino intends to run for a second term – something that will keep him in charge of world football until 2031 if he succeeds.
“The FIFA president announced in April that he will run for re-election in 2027,” says a statement from FIFA.
“Of course, nothing has changed. Mr. Infantino will run for re-election.
Infantino himself did not want to answer questions about his future when approached by journalists during the U20 Women’s World Cup in Poland on Saturday.
