The cast revealed for the “binge-worthy” Beatles films: Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan, Harris Dickinson and Joseph Quinn
Sam Mendes will direct four films to be released in the same month
One. To. Three. Four! There’s the classic Merseybeat intro, and there’s also the number of films about the greatest band of all time, The Beatles, which is now in production. At the annual industry event CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Monday night, director Sam Mendes revealed his plans for the biopic series – including confirmation of the long-rumored cast.

And oh my God, what a star cast – an integer list of the British youth shooting star. We get:
- Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney
- Harris Dickinson as John Lennon
- Joseph Quinn as George Harrison
- Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr
Mescal and Keoghan’s roles had been leaked before – by director Ridley Scott and Ringo Starr himself, respectively – but the rest of the cast hadn’t been announced until now.
Four movies – one month
The four films are due to be released in April 2028, and in an unusual move, all four will be released during the same month. Mendes describes the concept as “binge-worthy” to appeal to the streaming generation.
Worked on it “Eight Days a Week”
Mendes has been working on getting a Beatles biography in theaters “for years,” but “finally gave up” when he realized that the story “was too big for a single movie” — and didn’t envision a TV series for the small screen.
Full support from the Beatles universe
Despite previous attempts to tell The Beatles’ story, this is the first project to have the blessing not only of surviving Beatles members McCartney and Starr, but also of the Lennon and Harrison families – as well as the rights holders Apple. This means that we get all the classic songs, plus the story behind it.
The Beatles banded up in 1960 and started a musical revolution during their 10-year career, before going their separate ways at the height of their success in 1970. They themselves were no strangers to the big screen – they starred in five films, including “A Hard Day’s Night” (1964), which became an iconic cultural monument from the swinging 60s.
