The question everyone is asking themselves now is where to go to get chicken wings? Well doesn’t plan to travel to the US anytime soon, but I’ll admit that Hooters is a good reason to get on the plane across the pond.
Hooters of America has filed for bankruptcy protection in Texas as the company tries to manage its debt by selling all of its owned restaurants to an investor group backed by its founders.

The company currently owns and operates 151 restaurants directly, in addition to another 154 operated by franchisees, mainly in the United States.
The business states that the restaurants, which serve classic American bar food, will remain open during the process and operate as usual. Like many other casual dining chains, Hooters has struggled in recent years with rising costs and wage costs, as well as less willingness to spend among customers.
Hooters is known its waitresses and chicken wings
“Our famous Hooters restaurants are here to stay,” Hooters of America CEO Sal Melilli said in a statement.
“Today’s announcement marks an important milestone in our efforts to strengthen Hooters’ financial foundation.”
The company plans to sell all of its owned restaurants to a group consisting of two existing Hooters franchisees, which operates 14 of Hooters’ most popular outlets in the areas around Tampa, Florida, and Chicago, Illinois.
The group includes some of the chain’s founders, who have pledged to take the company “back to its roots” and make it more family-friendly. 🙂
Hooters did not disclose the value of the planned deal, which still needs to be approved by a US bankruptcy judge. The rescue plan is expected to be completed within the next four months.
Founded in 1983, Hooters is known for its waitresses – mainly young women called “Hooters Girls” – as well as its chicken wings.
