Viktor Gyökeres performed his signature goal celebration four times as Sweden qualified for the World Cup. Now the striker has trademarked the celebration.
According to documents from the EU’s Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), which Expressen has seen, Gyökeres’ application was approved in September. The application includes an image of Gyökeres making the goal gesture, which involves him crossing his hands in front of his face like a mask.

In the past, Kylian Mbappé and Cole Palmer have also trademarked their goal gestures.
The reason Palmer did this was to gain better control over how his personal brand is used by others for commercial purposes.
“It wasn’t about stopping other sports personalities or kids on playgrounds from making the same or a similar goal gesture,” Palmer’s law firm wrote, according to the newspaper.
