Next year, a reboot of the 2005 film “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie will debut. This time, the title characters will be played by Donald Glover and Maya Erskine. Check out the first trailer. What’s more, it will be a series, not a movie.
Although the production will have the same name as the famous film with Pitt and Jolie, the main actors reveal that the production will not resemble that film in any way. Glover also reveals that the series will also focus on reflections on modern relationships and marriages and what they actually are.
The original was about a pair of assassins who were hired to kill each other. The description of the new series reads:
Two lonely strangers get a job in a mysterious spy agency that offers them a wonderful spy life, wealth, world travel and a dream tenement house in Manhattan. The catch: a new identity in an arranged marriage as Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Smith. Now John and Jane complete a risky mission every week while facing a new relationship milestone. Their complicated cover becomes even more complicated when they begin to have real feelings for each other. What is more risky, espionage or marriage?
