Martin Ødegaard! – Will listen to commandments that never come

At least not this summer

Martin Ødegaard has delivered so well for Norway in the World Cup and disproved the assumptions that our captain and captain of Arsenal are about to sweep out, that the top has been reached even though he is only 27 years old.

The English press is as ruthless as it is idiotic. Now it is reported that Arsenal are open to bids for Martin Ødegaard at the same time as they write that he can leave London this summer. But…. that’s a big BUT. Arsenal are not willing to listen to bids of over 100 million euros, while the market value is down to 70 million euros, according to Transfermarkt, after a Premier League season for Martin Ødegaard has contained some debris in the machinery.

The Daily Mail writes: that Arsenal are willing to consider formal bids for Martin Ødegaard (27) in the summer transfer window – without rejecting a sale. This marks a significant shift in the club’s transfer strategy, while they are also working on a renewal of the midfield.

The London club has put a high price tag on the Norwegian, who has a contract until June 2028. So far, no potential buyers have met the price requirement, despite interest from several major European clubs.

Arsenal listen to bids for Martin Ødegaard

The shift in Arsenal’s strategy is all about bringing in players with greater physicality and defensive qualities in midfield. Led by Mikel Arteta, the coaching staff wants to increase competition internally – after a 2025/2026 season marked by the captain’s muscle injuries. Throughout the last Premier League season, Ødegaard started only 16 games, and came on as a substitute in another 8.

Arsenal’s goal is to bring in players who can contribute in high pressure and direct play. Such a restructuring would push Ødegaard down the hierarchy and greatly reduce his playing time in the 2026/2027 season.

Bruno Guimarães and the transfer picture ahead of the new season

Arsenal’s sports planning includes the signing of a top-class midfielder, and negotiations are ongoing for Bruno Guimarães. Newcastle have set a price tag of £75 million for the Brazilian international – an amount the Emirates club are willing to pay before the window closes. If the Brazilian comes in, it will probably bring the end of the Norwegian’s time in London.

Although an immediate sale of Martin Ødegaard before September seems unlikely – no bids have reached the desired level – sources close to the management believe that the 2026/2027 season will be the player’s last at the club. With only two years left on his contract, Arsenal will facilitate a sale in the summer of 2027, if no extension is put in place before then.

Arsenal’s technical staff will continue their search for a physical midfielder through the summer transfer window. If there is no satisfactory financial offer in the weeks to come, Martin Ødegaard will keep the captain’s armband ahead of the new season – while his future will be decided in 2027.
