After a month and a half of trial in the UK on allegations of sexual assault, the jurors went to deliberate the verdict that would decide the fate of Kevin Spacey. The actor was accused by four men of sexual abuse and was facing prison. On July 26, the verdict in the case was passed.
On July 26, 2023, Kevin Spacey’s 64th birthday, he was sentenced. The actor was cleared of all charges against him. The charges included three counts of indecent assault, three counts of sexual assault, and one charge of causing sexual penetration without the consent of a person. The incidents allegedly occurred between 2001 and 2013. Spacey declared his innocence in January this year. Now his position has been confirmed by the court. After hearing the verdict, Spacey burst into tears. In the London trial of Kevin Spacey, testified, among others, Elton John and his husband David Furnish, who sided with the star.
This isn’t Spacey’s first acquittal of sexual assault charges. In October 2022, he was found not guilty in a 1986 sexual assault allegation against Anthony Rapp when he was 14 years old. The actor was cut from Ridley Scott’s “All the Money in the World” (played by Christopher Plummer) and did not appear in the final season of “House of Cards”.
