It was a very emotional farewell to Bodø/Glimt players, supporters, Bodø city and Aspmyra for Kasper Høgh. Not many days later, it was straight to work in one of the cities in the world with the most intense city derby. On Monday, the stage was set for his debut. Without scoring, but the Celtic coach liked what he had seen.
Celtic tried their hand at Kasper Høgh signing this winter, but Bodø/Glimt and the Dane had a great time playing in the Champions League and saw no reason to rush. Last month, the timing was right. Celtic forked out around £11 million for the big scorer in the Champions League, when Høgh arrived at Celtic Park, there was little doubt coach Martin O’Neill saw this as the really big reinforcement for the Scottish big club.
Celtic won 1-0 over Dundee. The Danish striker played the entire game, but failed to get on the scoresheet. Nevertheless, O’Neill saw Høgh’s potential as the great attacking resource.
“He could have scored two or three goals. I think that when he is up to speed, he will be a great asset to the team. I think there are some parts of his game that could have been sharper – especially when he’s a little further away from the goal, but he was close on several occasions,” O’Neill told the club’s YouTube channel.
On Sunday, there is a new opportunity for Høgh against Kilmarnock. There is a Høgh goal, or two in the Scottish air. Martin O’Neill will give the Dane the best working conditions.
