When Jude Bellingham chose Borussia Dortmund in 2020, it was a Norwegian light bulb that took the English teenager to the “bridge”. 63 games got Bellingham and Haaland together, then the biggest star Haaland disappeared to City and has since made history in the Premier League. “Bro” chose Real Madrid before last season, and immediately took the step up into stardom at the world’s best club. When the annual evaluation of the best players in the world is published, Bellingham has passed his Norwegian “bridge” in value.
Every single year, possibly several times a year, the CIES Football Observatory, which is a world leader in scientific evaluation of professional players’ transfer values, comes out with a new report.
Issue number 486 of the Weekly Post presents the 100 most valued footballers in the world today. England’s Jude Bellingham, under contract with Real Madrid until 2029, tops the list with a value of €251 million.
Manchester City’s Erling Haaland (€221m) and Real Madrid’s Brazilian Vinícius Júnior (€206m) complete the podium despite contracts that only extend until 2027. Fourth-placed Spaniard Lamine Yamal (€180m) is tied to his club for an even shorter period of time (June 2026), which would facilitate a possible departure from Barcelona. Now at the age of 26, despite a contract with Real Madrid until 2029, Kylian Mbappé’s transfer value (175 million euros) is only the fifth highest.
Three Premier League players, England’s Bukayo Saka, Cole Palmer and Phil Foden, one from the Bundesliga, Germany’s Florian Wirtz and a fourth Real Madrid footballer, Brazil’s Rodrygo, are also in the top 10. The highest value for goalkeepers was recorded for Bart Verbruggen (Brighton & Hove), while Joško Gvardiol (Manchester City) tops the list for defenders and Viktor Gyökeres (Sporting CP) for players outside the big-5.
