70 Narvesen kiosks disappear – but the owner will not say which
ones
The grocers in the 70 Narvesen kiosks that are to be closed down have been notified. Nevertheless, owner Reitan Convenience does not want to publish a list of which stores are affected.
CEO Sara Ulla Nyquist of Reitan Convenience Norway confirms to HandelsWatch that they have notified those affected.

“We can confirm that we have been in dialogue with all the affected merchants. We are now working to ensure considerate and predictable processes for everyone involved, and are in dialogue with our merchants and landlords to find the best possible solutions,” says Nyquist.
From 2025 to 2028
The closures, which were announced on 25 November, are due to the fact that the kiosk concept has made a loss of millions over several years. The majority of the shops that are closed are located in shopping centres.
The process will not happen overnight. According to Reitan, it will be implemented gradually from next year until the end of 2028, which means that it could take up to three years.
“The closing date is agreed in dialogue with the grocer and the property owner, and will vary from store to store,” says Nyquist.
Wants to protect those
involved The reason why the company does not want to make public which stores are closing is to protect the parties involved through a complex process.
“We therefore do not want to publish a list of which stores are affected until we have progressed further in this process,” the communications manager emphasizes.
Narvesen’s history Narvesen
has a long tradition in Norway. It all started in 1894 when Johan Martin Narvensen opened a small kiosk at Torgallmenningen in Bergen. The concept grew rapidly, and the name eventually became synonymous with newsstands all over the country. The Reitan Group bought the chain in 2006. Today, Narvesen, together with 7-Eleven and Daily, is part of Reitan Convenience, which is now undergoing a major restructuring to correct profitability.
