Sky Sports had to censor Erling Haaland – again! This time after the Arsenal win
Haaland’s microphone was cut off by Sky Sports – for the third time in as many years.

Sky Sports was once again forced to mute Erling Haaland’s microphone in the middle of a powerful interview – after Manchester City’s dramatic win over Arsenal in the Premier League. Because this is far from the first time the Norwegian has made waves off the pitch.
Haaland scored the winning goal himself at the Etihad Stadium and opened the title race wide open, after both Rayan Cherki and Kai Havertz had found the back of the net.
The victory over their arch-enemy means Manchester City can go all the way to the top if they beat Burnley on Wednesday. Arsenal, on the other hand, have only five games left to play.
Bernardo Silva was named the best player on the pitch for his insane effort, and together with Haaland, he lined up for an interview after the game. Haaland heaped praise on the Portuguese’s defensive work – but then, as usual, it went too far.

“You were like fucking Cannavaro!”
The Norwegian swore loud and clear before interviewer Patrick Davidson had to remind him of the use of language.
“I remember that post. I said it to him afterwards: You were like j* Cannavaro,” Haaland said.
“Please, Erling,” Davidson replied.
Haaland continued, completely unconcerned:
“Come on, we’ve all cursed in our lives. I just said he was like Cannavaro. Today, Bernie – I’m not going to make it emotional in here – but you were really, really good.
Host Dave Jones was also forced to apologize live in the studio. “Sorry for the language,” he said. “I get the impression that they tried to hold back quite a bit in that interview.”
Haaland’s weirdest interview moment:
For those who have followed Haaland since his first days in the Premier League, this was far from a surprise. The 25-year-old has a long history of delivering moments that make both interviewers and viewers open their eyes.
“It’s a bit crap” – the debut interview that became legendary
Back in August 2022, after his Premier League debut for Manchester City against West Ham, Haaland scored two goals. When asked if he was disappointed not to have scored a hat-trick, he replied bluntly: “That’s a bit crap.” Then he turned to the interviewer and added, “I’m not very good at the language in this country.” The moment immediately became legendary.
“I feel really good” – when three words were more than enough
In 2019, after becoming the youngest player ever to score a first-time hat-trick in the Champions League, Haaland was asked how he felt. The answer? “I feel really good.” The interviewer tried again: “Something else?” Haaland, apparently puzzled by the question, replied: “You asked how I felt. I answered.”
“I don’t care about your fantasy team”
After scoring his tenth hat-trick for City, Haaland was confronted with an extraordinarily wacky question from a journalist. “I have a fantasy league with my friends. We all put you as captain except for one guy. What is your message to him?” Haaland grinned and delivered a devastating reply: “Yes, it’s a pity for him. And I don’t care.”
“Are you going to sleep alone tonight?”
After a game for Borussia Dortmund in which Haaland scored two goals – but not a hat-trick – a reporter asked a very special question: “Are you going to sleep alone tonight?” Haaland, who looked like he had just been asked if the moon landing was real, simply replied: “Ehh… yes.” Pundit Jamie Carragher lay flat with laughter in the studio.
Cucurella’s jab: “He asked for my shirt – now he’s singing songs about me”
After Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella reportedly sang a teasing song about Haaland after Spain’s Euros victory, the City striker was asked what he thought. With a buttery smile, Haaland replied: “Well, Cucurella is a funny man. Last season he asked for my shirt. And this summer, he’s singing a song about me.” An extraordinarily elegant denigration.
Another fierce duel with Gabriel
Back to the game against Arsenal: Haaland was once again involved in an intense confrontation with Arsenal’s Gabriel. Many believe the Brazilian was lucky to avoid a red card after moving his head aggressively towards the City striker.
Red cards have definitely been handed out for far less. Haaland believes Gabriel got away because he himself did not overreact – something he assures he would never do.
On the physical duels with Gabriel, Haaland said:
“I think it’s always like that. A lot of fighting and things like that. It’s up to others to decide if I won that game or not. I scored the goal, so I won the game at that moment. It was a fantastic goal, a decisive moment, and we win.
About the hottest episode, he added:
“I think if I had laid down on the grass – which I don’t do unless someone really attacks me – it could have been a red card. I’m not sure. But it is what it is. I don’t want to lie down.
“Yellow card for me. I don’t know why, when he comes up in my face. But that’s just the way it is.
What’s next?
One thing is certain: Whether he swears live, responds with three words or delivers crushing lines to both journalists and opponents – Erling Haaland is impossible to ignore. And Sky Sports probably already have their fingers on the mute button ready for next time.
