The whole of Italy sat on the bench, either at the San Siro or in front of a screen. Norway stood in the way of a direct World Cup ticket, hope was still there. Then the Norwegian attacking machine put in the turbo after 63 minutes. Nusa, Haaland x 2. Then the Italians got to know a striker who has lived in the shadow of Haaland and Sørloth. Jørgen Strand Larsen fooled the world’s best goalkeeper with a beautiful goal and wrote the 1-4 result into Italy’s “Hall of Shame”. Now there are a handful of clubs that want more from Strand Larsen.
Last season, Jørgen Strand Nilsen showed himself in the Premier League. 14 league goals for one of the Premier League’s weakest clubs was simply impressive. Then came the fall. Wolverhampton never came up from the starting block at the start of the season, nor did Strand Larsen. Six on points in twenty games, the Norwegian national team striker with a poor goal. Now the interest in Strand Larsen shows that the belief in the 25-year-old’s goalscoring flair is not gone.
Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest have all expressed their interest in the Norwegian striker at around £40 million, now one of the league’s biggest is entering the race to sign Norwegian scoring legs.
Tottenham have Mohammed Kudus out with a nasty injury, while the club sold last season’s top scorer, Brennan Johnson, to Crystal Palace earlier in January. According to The Telegraph, Tottenham (named by Sports Illustrated as the world’s 16th biggest club) have now announced their interest in Strand Larsen.
We love it!
