If there’s one thing I’ve learned from all this time with different managers, it’s that United fans simply don’t have the patience for a real rebuild. We always want immediate results. Now. Rebuilding is ugly, it’s uncomfortable, it involves difficult times – but our fanbase isn’t trained to recognise these phases or support a manager when the going gets tough.
Every single data point you look at from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first spell as manager provides more evidence that Ole built something special. The consistency he achieved with one of the youngest teams in Premier League history… That is not normal. It is elite work. Top-four finishes were the least we as fans demanded, and some demanded titles, strong goal difference, attacking football – all the while he laid the foundation.
People forget how much joy there was under Ole. Comebacks, big nights, goals everywhere, the belief back at Old Trafford. We felt like United again.
If there’s one manager after Sir Alex who deserved more time, more patience and proper support, it’s Ole. No debate.
And if there’s one manager who deserves a second chance at this club – with experience acquired and scars earned – it’s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
