In a news that Rangers were close to hijacking one of Paris Saint-Germain’s great talents, it emerged that the Scottish club, who are on the hunt for a new manager, have once again put Bodø/Glimt head coach Kjetil Knutsen on their “shortlist” of possible candidates.

Rangers have negotiated an “agreement in principle” to sign Paris Saint-Germain youth player Oumar Camara, according to French media. The club’s summer planning recently suffered a setback when their first candidate for the still vacant manager’s job, David Ancelotti, turned down the opportunity to take over Rangers from next season.

Carlo Ancelotti’s son has decided to leave Real Madrid at the same time as his father and at the same time not stay in Brazil, but find his own way forward.

Rangers have been without a permanent manager since Philippe Clement was sacked in February, and the 55-time Scottish champions will now have to consider other options such as Steven Gerrard, Kjetil Knutsen, Russell Martin and Marco Rose.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the coaching role – where club legend Barry Ferguson has had to temporarily take over – Rangers are actively working on transfers.

After reaching a pre-agreement to sign Dundee star Lyall Cameron in February, Rangers have now secured a deal for their second summer reinforcement.

Rangers sign PSG U19 captain

According to RMC journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Rangers have secured a “deal in principle” to sign PSG U19 captain Oumar Camara, who has recorded seven goals and four assists in the French U19 league this season.

The 18-year-old’s contract expires this summer, and according to Hawkins, he has accepted a move to Glasgow. Camara, who is a right winger by profession, will sign a “long-term” contract with the Rangers.

Hawkins adds that Rangers managed to present a more convincing offer to Camara than PSG, who had offered him a professional contract in an attempt to keep him.

PSG, in line with its new strategy of integrating French talents into the first team, is trying to keep its most promising academy players. But some, like Camara and teammate Axel Tape – who Leverkusen and Chelsea are interested in – feel that the chances of playing time are better elsewhere.

It will be interesting to see who will manage Oumar Camara next season, we think it will be Steven Gerrard because of his previous success with the club.
