The new movie Karate Kid Legends, which is part of the growing Karate Kid universe, has not yet been given an official release date. But a new trailer and character posters have revealed a lot of exciting information.
Thanks to the recent popularity of Cobra Kai – the TV series that follows the original Karate Kid characters 30 years later – it was only a matter of time before the iconic series would return to the big screen.

Two generations meet
This fusion of two worlds will undoubtedly delight both new and old Karate Kid fans. Jackie Chan returns to the series after his only appearance in the 2010 reboot, while the original’s Ralph Macchio is also back. Chan’s return will be especially celebrated, as he’s a living legend in both martial arts and film – and he looks exceptionally dignified with his new salt-and-pepper hair.
In the trailer below, we get an attempt at teamwork between Macchio and Chan to train the new Karate Kid, played by Ben Wang (American Born Chinese/Mean Girls), who has received unwanted attention from a local karate master.
Bigger and better than ever
What immediately strikes you in this new trailer is that things take a step up this time around. The combat sequences look faster than ever, and the action feels more epic than in previous installments of the series.
Just like in previous versions, the plot will build up to a karate tournament – with promises of glory, inheritance and more hinted at towards the end. The only other details we have so far, while waiting for a launch date, are the character posters for each of the three main characters.
