We haven’t quite gotten over the fact that England sent us out of the World Cup in the quarter-finals, but still treat the ball island to the final success in the World Cup. It didn’t come, after a hair-raising defensive choice by Thomas Tuchel for a 1-0 lead to England. After the game, there was a broken bunch of English players, who knew they had disappointed the nation – again. Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, in his disappointment, forgot to take the drinking bottle that was behind the goal. This created great entertainment for the Argentines, because on the back was written the BIG plan.
Argentina are through to the World Cup final against Spain. Two late goals in a terrific attacking game led by the best player in history, Lionel Messi, shook a defensively charged English 11 to a 1-2 loss. One of the most entertaining things after the game was Jordan Pickford’s carefully detailed recipe for winning a penalty shootout against Argentina.
Footage from the aftermath of Argentina’s World Cup semi-final victory over England showed Messi inspecting Pickford’s water bottle after the final whistle. A member of Argentina’s coaching staff picked up the bottle from the pitch before handing it to the captain. Who examined the penalty takers that were attached to the side of the bottle.
The bottle was then passed around Argentina’s national team, and Enzo Fernandez was seen laughing after seeing his own name alongside notes detailing his preferred penalty placement and shooting habits. The moment came after Argentina secured their place in the World Cup final with a dramatic late comeback.
Pickford had prepared detailed information about Argentina’s penalty takers, but England’s loss in regulation time meant that the notes were never necessary.
The video instead showed Argentina’s players reacting to Pickford’s preparations, and several members of the squad appearing amused as they looked through the instructions attached to the goalkeeper’s bottle.
Sorry, Jordan.
