It’s been a while since Marti Cifuentes led Sandefjord, and since 2020 the Spanish coach has stayed away from Norwegian football. First came the opportunity in Denmark before England called. Since June, Cifuentes has been without a job, but now comes a new opportunity on the ball island, where a big task awaits.
United legend Van Nistelrooy made an honest attempt to save Leicester from outright relegation, but failed in his mission. Then the gravity of the Premier League table took Leicester for the rest of the season. Last month, the Dutchman and the club agreed to end their working relationship. Now a new man is on his way in, where direct promotion from the Championship will be secured.
Marti Cifuentes led Sandefjord 2018-20 (60 elite league games), now the Spanish coach is being brought to Leicester, reports journalist Ben Jacobs.
Jacobs report on negotiations in the “advanced” phase. Cifuentes was brought to QPR from Hammarby in 2023, before that he was coach at Danish AaB,
Cifuentes left QPR in June after 15th place in the Championship table, now the task will be to lead Leicester back to the world’s toughest league.
