The English band Coldplay has an impressive string of hits, including Paradise, Viva La Vida, Yellow and Something Just Like This. – With almost 30 years as a band and over 40 million albums sold, it is not surprising that they sell tickets when they embark on a world tour, but what we are seeing now is simply insane.
The Guinness Book of World Records is not exactly known for providing information about concerts, but they have sent out a press release about record sales of tickets for Coldplay’s world tour “Music of The Sphere”.
Not coming to Norway
Beyoncé, Coldplay and Taylor Swift are all dropping out of Norway even though they probably would fill up any arena. Next month there will be 11 concerts in Australia and New Zealand. In addition, Coldplay will do eight new concerts in August 2025 at Wembley in London and Craven Park in Hull. The Wembley concerts will take place entirely using solar and wind power as well as kinetic energy.
Ticket sales of 10.3 million tickets beat Taylor Swift’s “Eras” tour in numbers, but Swift was paid better and even though she recorded more money – 23.7 billion kroner. (She still holds the record for highest-grossing concert tour and she’s going to hold it for a while, unless DDE decides to start touring again).
But there is still eight months of “Music of the Spheres” tour left for Coldplay and they continue to put in tour dates, so nothing is impossible.
- On January 26, Coldplay drew 223,000 spectators to a concert weekend in Ahmedabad, India, which is also a new record for stadium concerts.
