Teddy Sheringham was the United striker who, together with Solskjaer, sunk Bayern Munich in the 1999 Champions League final. The English tough man has 146 Premier League goals and knows what it takes to succeed in the world’s toughest league. The 60-year-old now makes – for us – a sensational claim about who is the striker king in the Premier League.

Okay, we may be a little colored by being Norwegian, but notice that Teddy Sheringsham’s selection of best Premier League striker gets us engaged. Erling Haaland has time and time again been labeled PL’s best striker, for the United legend it is a Swede who deserves this.

For Sheringham, it’s all about Alexander Isak.

Haaland has scored a wild 169 goals in 205 appearances since joining City in 2022, quickly closing in on Sergio Agüero’s goal record for City.

“I like Alexander Isak very much. I like what he gives you as a centre-forward,” Sheringham begins according to Teamtalk.

“He obviously wasn’t right last season, but the whole situation at Liverpool was wrong, even using two centre-forwards, and it just didn’t work out for some. For me, he’s the best striker in the Premier League. He’s phenomenal. I’d love to see him win the Golden Boot this year, and not just to beat Erling Haaland, but for the way Isak plays the game, and how hungry he is for goal.”

“I like his behaviour on the pitch. He wants to score goals and he can score goals, and his goals against Ipswich Town were fantastic. That should make the rest of the Premier League worried this season, I love it. He looks back at his very best, sharp shouting, getting it out of his feet and… bang, goal! He knows where the goal is on both sides and he’s really fantastic in the box, just being in the right place at the right time, and following up on chances,” Sheringham concluded.

Hmm.
