Also gets a cinema date – Benoit becomes Bentrois.
It’s not new that a third Knives Out mystery is on the way, after creator Rian Johnson confirmed the third film back in May. The good news is that we finally have a release date.
Now, Johnson has confirmed via X that the film will be released in theaters in the US for Thanksgiving (which falls on November 27 this year). After the cinema screening, it will be released on Netflix on December 12 – just in time for a family screening for Christmas.

Johnson hinted at more details about whether Knives Out will be coming soon in the post on X, saying “More to come very soonrrrrrrt…” – does this mean we can expect a confirmed fourth movie? A surprising follow-up recording, such as 28 Years Later.
Daniel Craig returns as private detective Benoit Blanc in Wake Up Dead Man, so it’s not long before the iconic accent hits your ears.
Knives Out is already becoming a cult classic of sorts, similar to White Lotus in that it attracts the flute of Hollywood’s acting talent. The original film starred Jamie Lee Curtis, Chris Evans, Ana De Armas, and Toni Collette; the other had Kate Hudson, Janelle Monae, Edward Norton and Kathryn Hahn. The third film definitely keeps up this tradition, with Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, and Andrew Scott in the cast alongside Craig.
The teaser trailer shared in May showed that Benoit Blanc is apparently investigating a murder related to Christian religious rituals, with a very haunting soundtrack. Craig had previously told Variety that he hoped the third Knives Out movie would get a theatrical release, saying, “Hopefully, Netflix will give it a release push so people can see it. The people I talk to – the fans, I guess – the only thing they want is to bring their family and see it in the cinema. That’s all they want. Hopefully we can give them that experience.”
All we know is that it’s definitely not long to wait before more dark, but fun Knives Out action will reach our screens somehow.
