After a decade filled with titles, records and historic triumphs, Pep Guardiola is moving on.
On Friday, the English big club presented another tribute to the Spaniard. Manchester City have confirmed that a statue of Guardiola will be erected outside the Etihad Stadium as a permanent reminder of his time at the club.
The announcement comes just hours after City announced that Guardiola is leaving the coaching post after ten years.
The statue will be placed next to the newly expanded north stand, which will also be renamed “The Pep Guardiola Stand”.
“Pep has left an indelible mark on the club’s DNA. A touch that is as much about the way he won as all the trophies he lifted,” says Manchester City’s owner Sheikh Mansour in the club’s official statement.
The club’s chairman, Khaldoon Al Mubarak, believes that the statue will be a way to preserve Guardiola’s legacy for the future.
