Liverpool now realise it was a mistake to sell Jarrell Quansah

A big club like Liverpool will always have a surplus of academy players who are sold, or do not get contract extensions. The eye of the needle for playing time in the first team is so little, so little, few go all the way and establish themselves. Those who do are guaranteed their careers. There were many supporters who were stunned when Jarrell Quansah disappeared from Anfield last summer, now it turns out that those who were stunned were absolutely right. This was a player who really should have worn the Liverpool shirt this season as well.

Quansah was the player Liverpool did not want to sell, but when the 21-year-old pushed for an exit after great success at the Under-21 Euros for England last summer to secure playing time and development, Liverpool opened the door for Bayer Leverkusen’s €35 million bid. Seven months later, the reigning Premier League champions have realised it was a mistake. A mistake they are willing to pay dearly to correct.

Because according to Sky Sports , Liverpool are considering bringing Quansah back to Anfield. A buy-back clause is said to be baked into the contract with Leverkusen, where Liverpool can press the undo button before the end of May.

The buy-back clause is said to be for 80 million euros with an expiry at the end of May, so Liverpool will have to make a decision on the centre-back in the relatively near future. We’re guessing a good number of Liverpool supporters will give the thumbs up to get back the centre-back, brought up at the club, who in his few appearances at Reds and deliveries at Leverkusen shows tremendous potential.
