Jørn Andersen (63) continues his coaching career – now as national team manager for Myanmar’s men’s national football team.
The Østfold native was presented in the role on Thursday.
“I’m thrilled to be in Myanmar,” Andersen said.
Already on Monday, the first signals came that he was about to get a new national team job in Asia.
It is not an uncomplicated country Andersen has chosen this time. Since the military took power in 2021, a civil war has raged in the country – and over 100,000 people have been killed, according to figures from conflict observer Acled. But hey!! – Is it so careful..
The job is Andersen’s first since he left Chinese club Yunnan Yukun in 2025.
The 63-year-old from Fredrikstad has a long track record as a coach in Asia. From 2016 to 2018, he was the coach of the North Korea national team, and from 2021 to 2024, he led the Hong Kong national team for three years.
