Pep Guardiola left Manchester City after 20 titles. Now Enzo Maresca will have the task of building on what the legendary coach has achieved in the world’s toughest league – and out in Europe. Maresca and City are getting closer to signing, one of the first things the Italian will experience as the new City coach, is that the club breaks the transfer record on the ball island.

Alexander Isak didn’t make it to Anfield until Liverpool left £125 million at Newcastle. A new transfer record in the Premier League – and a new benchmark when Manchester City are looking to secure one of England’s most sought-after midfielders.

Manchester United have given up, the Red Devils are not willing to meet Forest owner Marinakis’ demand for a transfer record for Elliot Anderson signing.

The BBC reported City’s bid of £106 million. This was rejected. Then the bid increased to £120 million. Again rejected.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, the clubs are now close to an agreement, with City accepting at least £125 million in guaranteed money – i.e. without bonuses.
