He’s been the big favourite to take over as James Bond for a while now, but has Aaron Taylor-Johnson just given the biggest hint yet?

The Hollywood star (34) has long been the bookmakers’ favorite to play 007 after Daniel Craig (57) said goodbye in “No Time to Die” from 2021.

Other names that have been mentioned include Idris Elba, Theo James, Jack Lowden and Stephen Graham – with James actually taking the lead as the new top contender after his latest lingerie campaign.

But “Godzilla” star Taylor-Johnson is strongly challenging him with what fans are convinced is a confirmation of his signing.

Omega deal sparked speculation Taylor-Johnson
has struck a deal with Omega, the watch brand that has long supplied accessories to the Bond franchise.

Since “GoldenEye” in 1995, Omega watches have adorned Bond’s wrist, and now Taylor-Johnson’s collaboration has caused a stir as a kind of Easter egg.

Pierce Brosnan was the first Bond to wear an Omega watch, and the collaboration has lasted for 30 years – Daniel Craig wore the brand’s “Seamaster” watch in his last Bond film.

“In awe of the craft”
After signing his own deal, Taylor-Johnson stated,
“I’ve always had a taste for timers, but especially for Omega. After visiting the factory, I am in awe of the craftsmanship required to create such a luxurious product.”

Omega’s CEO also praised him, calling Taylor-Johnson a “versatile actor with a span covering action, thriller, romance, and much more” — which sounds like a perfect description of a James Bond actor.

Fans are convinced
We’re not the only ones thinking so, because after Taylor-Johnson’s new deal was announced, fans flocked to Omega’s Instagram comments:

“Do I hear the 007 theme? 😉🍸 ” – @watchbie “He MUST be the new James Bond now” – @julianheusschen “Good day, Mr. Bond. We’ve been waiting for you” – @thatonebondguy “The biggest hint yet that he’ll be James Bond” – @charliesansom

Keeping the doors ajar
When Taylor-Johnson has previously been asked about the rumours that he will play the agent, he has been cryptic.

In an interview with Rolling Stone UK in March 2024, the “Bullet Train” star said,
“I can only talk about what I’m going to show and tell about. Then ‘The Fall Guy’, ‘Nosferatu’, ‘Kraven the Hunter’… I’m here to promote them.”

He added,
“I don’t feel like I need to have a set future. I feel like no matter what the future holds, I can f*** me do better.”

Bond odds (according to Coral)
Theo James – 6/4
Henry Cavill – 3/1
Aaron Taylor-Johnson – 7/2
James Norton – 6/1
Jack Lowden – 12/1

The mystery seems to last a little longer, but after Amazon Prime earlier this year took over “creative control” of the Bond franchise, it seems like things are finally moving…
