The weather may be more summery, but there are still plenty of reasons to sit in a darkened room for two hours – with more blockbuster movies coming in June.
Yes, the weather is getting warmer, and outdoor activities may be tempting. But there are still plenty of reasons to sit in a darkened room for a couple of hours this month. There will be more long-awaited films that should make many people seek out the local cinema.

This month sees the return of a much-loved animated series, as well as a blockbuster version of an iconic 80s cartoon and toy line. We also get a refresher on a parody series, as well as action movies, comedies, and the newest addition to the DC Extended Universe.
Here are six films we are looking forward to in June.
Masters of the Universe
Ask your parents about “Masters of the Universe” and they’ll be nostalgic for the iconic ’80s comic book and the huge toy line that came with it. After other toys have received blockbuster treatment, a new attempt is now being made for a live-action version of “Masters of the Universe”. Nicholas Galitzine plays He-Man/Prince Adam, while Jared Leto delivers a stellar performance as the skull mask Skeletor. It looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun with some great action scenes – definitely better than the 80s movie version. Cinema premiere June 5th.
Scary Movie
It was essentially inevitable that when “Scream” returned to the screen earlier this year, “Scary Movie” would follow suit – and happily poke fun at the horror genre. Like “Scream,” the refresh of “Scary Movie” brings back original cast members like Anna Faris for more ridiculous and goofy moments. Launches June 5th.

Stop! That! Train!
The action-comedy-disaster movie “Stop! That! Train!” rolls into cinemas on June 12. The plot at a glance: Two best friends who work as train flight attendants switch from a boring route to the luxurious “Glamazonian Express”. When a huge storm occurs along the way, they must work with top-notch staff and President Gagwell to prevent a disaster from hitting LA. This is supposedly set in the “Drag Race” universe and features RuPaul and several contestants from the TV series, as well as guest appearances from stars such as Sarah Michelle Gellar. Expect laughter, raving madness and a lot of fables.
The Death of Robin Hood
“The Death of Robin Hood” is a dark look at the Robin Hood legend, based on the 1600s ballad “Robin Hood’s Death”. Hugh Jackman plays Robin, with Jodie Comer and Bill Skarsgård in the cast. The premise is that an aging and critically injured Robin Hood reflects on his past life of crime and murder, while being cared for by a mysterious woman. Coming June 19th.
Toy Story 5
“Toy Story” is back for a fifth round, seven years after “Toy Story 4,” which was met with mixed reception from critics and fans alike. This time it’s about Bonnie, who is now eight years old and very captivated by her new gadget – a tablet called Lilypad. This poses an existential threat to the Games – now led by Jessie with Buzz as second-in-command. They seek out Woody for help – but can they overcome the powerful grip of technology? See what’s happening from 19 June.
Supergirl
The newest installment of the new DC Extended Universe sees Supergirl enter the stage, with Milly Alcock in the title role. As Kara Zor-El travels around the galaxy to celebrate her 23rd birthday – along with her dog Krypto – she experiences a tragic event when a villain strikes too close. Together with an unlikely companion, she embarks on a mission of revenge and justice. Coming June 26th.
