They are allowed to look forward to it, even for those who are not blood fans of Oasis.

Oasis has received more than its fair share of attention – there have been tours, sold-out concerts, merchandise and the crowning glory of legendary status: a Comic Relief parody. Now, following in the footsteps of Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift, the duo is getting a new landmark documentary – and it’s created by none other than Steven Knight.

The documentary will premiere exclusively on Disney+ later this year, after being shown in select theaters.

The as-yet-untitled Oasis documentary is made by BAFTA and Oscar-nominated writer, producer, and director Steven Knight. You know him (or are completely engrossed in him) thanks to Peaky Blinders, A Thousand Blows, and because he is currently writing the script for the next Bond film. The documentary is directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, known for “Shut Up and Play the Hits” and “Meet Me in the Bathroom”.

The documentary will follow Liam and Noel’s surprise reunion and the legendary Live 25 tour – a more epic rock ‘n’ roll comeback than if they had announced a Camp Rock sequel. The film promises to be an “extraordinarily uplifting account of what was arguably the biggest musical event of 2025,” which sounds just right when you consider the enormous attention, commotion, and questionable sing-alongs that characterized every concert. What else could make grown-up, somewhat emotionally restrained men in their late 40s cry in public, if not a live version of “Wonderwall”?

The film gets a real insider’s perspective, with access to rehearsals, backstage areas and the stage, as well as the first joint interviews with Noel and Liam in over 25 years. Alongside the band’s sold-out world tour, the film will also look at the deep emotional impact of this phenomenal global cultural moment – see above about men finally letting themselves cry in public – and what their music means to audiences and generations around the world. Say what you will about Oasis, but they – and Guy Ritchie movies – have really done wonders for the bond between fathers and their closet bisexual daughters for decades.

Steven Knight says about the documentary:

“I’m really looking forward to the world seeing this film. I think it captures the spirit and emotion of a global cultural moment and turns justice into the wit and genius of two extraordinary people. I wanted to tell the story of the brothers and the band, but just as important: the story of the fans whose lives music has touched and sometimes changed forever. It is also the story of how music and songwriting can unite generations, cultures and countries – and in a time marked by evil and division, give us all a reason to hope.

We don’t yet have an exact streaming date, but Disney has announced that the exclusive IMAX release will be on September 11. So we can expect release sometime after that.
