Liverpool’s legendary manager Jürgen Klopp announces he has accepted a job offer that gives him a return to the “sidelines”

Klopp left Liverpool at the end of the 2023/24 season after a legendary spell at Anfield. He helped the club win the Premier League and Champions League during his time as manager.

After leaving Liverpool, Klopp stated that he did not want to return to the stress of the managerial profession, despite being linked with several positions, including Barcelona.

He eventually returned to football in a role outside of coaching, when he was appointed “Head of Global Soccer” at Red Bull Group.

But the German has now got a new job, and reveals that he will be an expert commentator during the World Cup in 2026.

He shared a video on Instagram in which he played on a return to the sidelines, before clarifying that his job is as an expert commentator during next summer’s championship in North America, where the United States, Canada and Mexico are the host nations.

Klopp is said to be an expert commentator for the German station Magenta TV.

The text on his post read: “Grass under your feet, stadium atmosphere, very close! Back to the sidelines, I’m looking forward to it!”

In the video, Klopp says: “Many of you have always known better. But I really couldn’t imagine it for myself. Back to the sidelines? I don’t miss anything. That’s what I’ve always thought. But now it tickles again. Grass underfoot. The heated atmosphere in the stadium. And I want to be very close again. Stream? No, not as a manager,” he added. “I’ll be an expert commentator for Magenta TV during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.”

Klopp then spoke to German TV host and journalist Johannes B. Kerner and said: “Hi, Johannes. I’m on! See you on June 11 in Mexico! Cool statement. Apart from Indiana Jones, probably no one can say that.”

Given the 57-year-old’s knowledge and experience, he will be ready to deliver expert analysis of next summer’s World Cup matches.

Having spent time at Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool, he is likely to have a lot to say about Germany’s (if they qualify) and England’s chances of becoming world champions again.
