The TV series, which lasted only one season, premiered last year and stars Felicity Ward as Hannah Howard, who runs a packaging company in Sydney.

The cast also includes Edith Poor, Steen Raskopoulos, and Shari Sebbens, with New Zealand director Jackie Van Beek and Julie de Fina directing the production.

The future of the Amazon Prime series has been uncertain since it premiered last year, having received mediocre reviews compared to the American and British originals.

Now it has been confirmed that the comedy series will not return to screens, after Prime has decided to pull the plug.

Since the first season aired, “The Office Australia” has received mixed feedback on social media.

“Loved the series, really hope you guys get a season 2, every episode will be better than the last!” wrote one person on a fan account.

Another added, “The series is actually pretty good.”

However, there were others who disagreed, writing, “A cheap and bad imitation.”

“I really tried not to compare to either the British or American Office, but even as a standalone series, I found it neither funny nor entertaining. I’m sorry to say that because I’m in favor of supporting Australian comedy,” another person added.

In August, the head of Prime Video Australia and New Zealand, Hwei Loke, did little to avert rumors that the series would be canceled after one season.

“We were so pleased with the global reception for The Office. And at the moment, that’s where we’re leaving it,” Hwei said at the time.

“We’re still considering options, and we haven’t made a decision.”

In October last year, the main star Felicity Ward defended the controversial Australian remake after it received criticism from fans.

The actress hit back at critics, urging viewers to give the series a chance before judging it, while also acknowledging the skepticism that comes with reinventing such an iconic series.

“Listen, I know what it’s like to love something and feel protective of it being made again. I totally understand that,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle.

“But if you look at the American version, there was a huge backlash. People were very, very angry. And it became its own thing. And it’s the same with the Australian one.”

“People will get angry, and people will also be very happy about it. Have your feelings, and we’re all just doing the best we can.”

Felicity encouraged viewers to watch the comedy series before forming an opinion.

“I would say: just watch it and decide accordingly. As with anything else, we can all have our contempt before investigating, but if you see it, then you can have an opinion,” she added.
