A professional footballer who has spent almost his entire childhood, youth and the rest training to wear the shirt for one of the biggest clubs in the world, cannot be satisfied when he is not out in the stadium on match day. For Martin Ødegaard, this is not the case. The 26-year-old has every reason to be delighted with the last seven days without his combat boots on.

Liverpool hit the wall with a 0-3 loss to Nottingham Forest. Newcastle sent Manchester City home from St. James’ Park with a 2-1 loss. On Sunday, the big question was whether Arsenal, still without Martin Ødegaard, should take advantage of the opportunity to increase the gap to their biggest rivals. After the smoke had settled at the Emirates in the city derby against Tottenham, the Gunners are left as the big favourite to win the Premier League.

Martin Ødegaard was part of the historic handing out of the World Cup ticket last Sunday after Norway’s fairytale 1-4 victory over Italy at the San Siro. On Sunday, Arsenal captain Ødegaard could see his players play their way to a big win over their city rival and increase the lead to six points.
