The United States will host the tournament together with Canada and Mexico this summer, but the country is not particularly welcome after Donald Trump became president.

The 2026 World Cup has been plunged into chaos after President Donald Trump made two major threats just months before the tournament is due to kick off.

It is the first time the tournament is organized by three countries. – And from what we have seen so far, it will be the last time, unless the countries are friends such as Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland and Denmark.

Although Spain are early favourites after their success at Euro 2024, England, France and Argentina will be confident of challenging for the trophy. This year’s summer edition will also be historic as the first World Cup to include 48 teams, expanded from the traditional 32 countries.

FIFA has now confirmed that more than six million super expensive tickets will be available for matches this summer.

However, the preparations have been thrown into chaos, after President Trump again threatens to strip cities of their hosting rights. Last month, Trump claimed that he had the authority to “resign” World Cup matches from Boston if he felt the city was unsafe. He also threatened to ban one of the world’s best football nations, Brazil.

Then, on Monday night at the White House with FIFA President Gianni Infantino by his side, Trump threatened to do the same with Seattle. He warned that unless the city’s crime rate improves, he could take away their hosting rights.

The president then asked Infantino if it was possible.

Infantino replied: “Yes, well, I think safety and security is the highest priority.”

Trump has also said on several occasions that he will launch military strikes in Mexico to fight drug cartels. It becomes difficult to cooperate after that.

According to NBC, he said, “Would I launch attacks in Mexico to stop drugs? OK for me, whatever we need to do to stop drugs.”

“Mexico is, look, I looked at Mexico City this weekend. There are some big problems there.”

While in the Oval Office, Trump also announced that U.S. embassies will give visa appointments priority to supporters who have World Cup tickets. Although ticket holders will not automatically be granted visas, FIFA’s Prioritised Appointment Scheduling System (Pass) is designed to expedite the process.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that foreign nationals will be able to secure an interview within six to eight weeks of applying. He insisted that ticket holders would receive “the same scrutiny that everyone else would receive.”

With the opening match of the World Cup set for June 11 in Mexico City, Trump’s latest statements have created uncertainty about the tournament.

And with the full draw on December 5, it risks throwing supporters’ plans into chaos.

Now in other words, first spend 50,000 on tickets to football, the World Cup, then wait 6 to 8 weeks for an interview to see if you get into the country. – And even with a visa, you can risk not getting in if you have ever said anything negative about Donald Trimp. – And with that, I can give a shit about going…
