Even though the “brat summer” is officially over – like all the best things (Britpop, Oasis, Mamma Mia!) – it’s still getting a new resurgence this summer.

Charli XCX has teamed up with Converse, and now fans have the opportunity to put their own stamp on the classic shoe. The new Custom Chuck Taylor All Star Charli XCX By You (catchig name!) is a unisex high-top collection that allows Charli’s “Angels” to design their own versions.

The “By You” concept is a customization platform where fans can create their own shoes through a limited window of just three days.

Fans can choose from five different base colors: black, white, brown rice, winter sky, or bridal rose. But it wouldn’t be Charli without some “indie sleaze” details, would it? Each pair comes with printed “wear effects”, fading, washed laces and printed “currants” – very post-tour grunge.

The customization doesn’t stop there: the shoes also feature interchangeable patches on the heels with references to some of Charli XCX’s most iconic texts, such as XCX, 365, Angel and Party Girl. And would it be a true 2000s fashion expression without a heel charm? Absolutely not – that’s why it comes with either a “Brat” lock-and-key charm or an “unlock it” charm.

And of course – what is it that really symbolizes Charli and the “brat” aesthetic? Lime green. Therefore, these shoes can get a sensational lime green sole. If you ride a lime green bike with these on your feet, you will in practice be camouflaged.

Punk meets pop with these Converse spoons – just like the “brat” movement, they are chaotic, but with meaning, party-ready, but at the same time well thought out. The collection will be released exclusively on Converse’s official website on August 5 at 10:00 a.m. EST.

The price is currently set at $100, which isn’t too bad when a regular men’s high top costs around $65. And if you think of it as $50 per shoe, it suddenly seems a lot more affordable. Embrace the inner “party girl” mentality…
