A big new job for the former Barça boss
The rumor turned out to be true: Barcelona legend and former manager Xavi Hernández has been hired as the new head coach of the Netherlands men’s national team, the KNVB confirmed.
Dusan Vlahovic ready for new club
Xavi has signed a four-year contract that runs until the 2030 World Cup, taking on his first managerial job since leaving Barça in 2024.
He replaces another Barça legend and former player, Ronald Koeman, who resigned after this summer’s World Cup finals. Xavi also took over for Koeman at Barça back in 2021, and Orange supporters are hoping that Xavi’s arrival in the national team will have the same immediate effect as it did five years ago.
The new boss faces a huge challenge on his debut, as the Dutch face Jürgen Klopp’s Germany on September 24 in Amsterdam in the first leg of the new UEFA Nations League.
