Trump: “A terrible mistake” to remove Infantino

US President Donald Trump circles Fifa president Gianni Infantino – and believes it would be a “terrible mistake” if he is pushed out of his position.

It is not surprising, the moment Infantino disappears and a less corrupt leader is installed at the top of the football world, the opportunity to continue sucking insane money out of what must be one of the world’s biggest heist attempts disappears.

Everyone understands this, except for those who themselves get or hope to get a piece of the pie.

Trump’s support comes after Uefa, Concacaf and the Asian Football Confederation sent an open letter accusing Infantino of breaking trust “through deception” – related to his aborted proposal for the Fifa Forward Enterprise (FFE).

FFE would have meant that a new company would be created to manage commercial rights and ticket sales for all Fifa tournaments, including the World Cup, where 21 percent would be sold to a private investment company.

“Fantastic leader”

Trump’s statements are the first he has made in Infantino’s defense since the FFE plans became known on July 28.

“Fifa would make a terrible mistake if they for any reason consider replacing President Gianni Infantino,” Trump writes on social media.

“He’s fantastic – he’s just led the most successful World Cup ever, with four times as many viewers. If he disappears, it will never be as successful or profitable again.

The 2026 World Cup was hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico this summer, with Spain as champions after beating Argentina in the final.

– Has not spoken to Infantino about the plans

When Trump first brought up the FFE proposals on July 31, he said that he had not spoken to Infantino about the plans.

Thrive Eternal was expected to lead the proposed investor group for FFE. Thrive is an American venture capital firm founded by Joshua Kushner – brother of Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Now Trump is clearly on Infantino’s side – and is sending a clear signal to Fifa’s member states about who he thinks should lead football’s supreme body.

The statements that Donald Trump does not know the plans are of course a lie.
