After a tough final spurt with a thin and tired squad, Everton finally finished in 13th place in the Premier League, after smelling Europe for much of the season.

TEAMtalk reports that Everton have revived interest in signing Bodø/Glimt’s left winger Jens Petter Hauge – but the blue shirts from Merseyside will face tough competition for his signature.
The 26-year-old from Bodø has taken Europe by storm. With his electric runs, unpredictable creativity and ability to decide the biggest games, he was one of the main reasons why Bodø/Glimt shocked the big clubs in the Champions League last season. Highlights such as a double strike against Tottenham and a goal against Manchester City in the historic 3-1 win have put the Norwegian winger on everyone’s lips.
His story is a classic roller coaster. He broke through at Bodø/Glimt in 2019 and was crucial when the club won its first ever league gold in 2020 with 14 goals and 10 assists. That same autumn, he got his dream transfer to AC Milan after impressing against Milan in the Europa League qualifiers – with both an assist and a goal at the San Siro. Paolo Maldini called personally, and Hauge was suddenly a Rossoneri player.
At Milan, however, it was mostly substitutions and bench wear in competition with Rafael Leão. As he himself has admitted: “Maybe I could have been more patient”. He moved on to Eintracht Frankfurt, where he helped win the Europa League in 2022, but he didn’t get the regular place he needed there either.
Back to the roots – and better than ever
After a loan spell at Gent and another unsuccessful spell in Frankfurt, Hauge returned to Bodø/Glimt on loan in 2024 – and later permanently for €4 million in early 2025. The homecoming was a sporting triumph. In the 2024 season, he delivered 8 goals and 4 assists in 28 league games, and was heavily involved in another league gold.
In the 2025/26 Champions League, he took the plunge with 6 goals in 12 games, including the sensational win over Manchester City that secured Glimt their first-ever Champions League victory. Now he is back where he belongs: as Norway’s most electric assault weapon.
More English clubs in the queue
It has not gone unnoticed. Several English clubs have opened their eyes to the Norwegian, who can amplify any attack in the Premier League.
Everton have breathed life into interest in the winger. The Toffees have previously been linked with Hauge, and it is confirmed that he is still high on his wish list. The price tag? Around £30 million – a sum that in today’s market appears to be a bargain for a player with Hauge’s qualities.
But Everton will have competition. Sunderland have also put Hauge on their radar, and sources indicate that the Black Cats have already made contact with his representatives. They see him as a player who can adapt at lightning speed, thanks to his European background and experience from stays abroad.
Leeds United and Hull City have also reportedly entered the race for the versatile striker. Both clubs are looking for reinforcements on the wings, and Hauge’s dazzling mix of speed, technique and goal danger fits like a glove.
Glimt demands big money
Bodø/Glimt, however, are safely in the driver’s seat. With a contract that extends until 2028 and Hauge’s enormous importance to the team, the Norwegians will demand a significant sum to release their star. The transfer window is still wide open, and Hauge’s future is far from decided. But the level of interest from the Premier League suggests that something could happen before the deadline.
And it doesn’t stop with England. Several Serie A clubs are also keeping a close eye on the Norwegian cannon – and Hauge is undoubtedly one of the most exciting players to keep an eye on in the weeks to come.
The last time Hauge was out in Europe, it was not “as fun”. – Expect a trip to the thinking box for both player and club when the bids start to come.
