The brick is out there. Lego has unveiled its new “The X-Files” set, and yes – you get both Mulder and Scully as minifigures.
The set consists of 1,478 pieces and a total of eight figures, and is part of the popular Lego Ideas series – where regular fans submit ideas that can become real sets if they get enough votes.

From Mulder’s office – via the forest and a UFO
The Lego set features a highly detailed replica of FBI agent Fox Mulder’s office, complete with a clearing in the woods and a hovering UFO. The minifigures we are served? Fox Mulder, Dana Scully, Walter Skinner, Mr. X, Alex Krycek, Carl Busch, “The Flukeman” – and a gray alien.
Inside the office, there are plenty of Easter eggs for the faithful: an “I Want to Believe” poster, an “X-Files” folder, a “The Truth Is Out There” tile, pencils stuck to the ceiling (of course) – and a small tribute to Mulder’s sunflower seed addiction.
Gillian Anderson: “Surreal and wonderfully weird”
“Seeing myself as a minifigure is both surreal and strangely wonderful. There’s something incredibly charming about being ‘miniaturized’,” Gillian Anderson said in a statement.
“The whole set is a brilliant tribute to ‘The X-Files’, and I hope fans enjoy reliving the series in this way. I myself am certainly looking forward to putting little Scully on my shelf, she adds.
Anderson has also been featured in a promo video where she takes on the role of Scully and goes on an investigation – which naturally leads her straight to the Lego set.
Fans’ dream came true
Behind the original idea is Australian fan designer and 3D artist Brent Waller, who submitted the proposal for Lego’s “’90s Nostalgia Challenge”.
“I was obsessed with ‘The X-Files’ from the first time I saw it in the 90s. I built Mulder’s office back in 2014 while I was rewatching the series, and it grew from a personal project,” Waller says.
“I wanted to combine nostalgia, details and storytelling to capture the soul of the series – from the office to the forest and the UFO encounter. The fact that there will now be an official Lego set is crazy. I hope it hits both the initiated and completely new audiences.
When can you buy it?
The set will be launched in two stages:
- August 1: Lego Insider’s Early Access members get the first purchase right.
- August 4: The set becomes available to everyone.
Extra bonus: Those who buy between 1 and 10 August will also receive the gift gift “Scully’s Laboratory” – while stocks last. The set lets you recreate the classroom at the FBI National Academy, complete with Dana Scully in lab and work clothes.
The truth is out there. And it’s made of Lego.
