Liverpool broke the transfer records on the ball island last season. First Florian Wirtz, then Alexander Isak. While supporters are still waiting for the giant investments the club made in the two players to pay off, the Merseyside club’s willingness to pay has had major consequences for the entire transfer market in the Premier League. This is now “costing” Manchester City large sums of money.
Earlier in June, The Athletic reported that Manchester City had a bid for Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson rejected. The bid is said to have been £106 million. Manchester United seem to have withdrawn in the signing battle, but this does not mean that City have won. The Nottingham Forest management with owner Marinakis has a clear requirement to release their biggest asset.
According to transfer expert Nicolo Schira, City are preparing a second attempt at the same player. According to Schira, the new bid is worth a total of £117-121 million. Anderson and City have already agreed on personal terms and a contract until 2031, but Nottingham Forest refuse to let Anderson go.
Because if we are to believe the rumours on the ball island, a bid of around £120 million for the England international does not help. Nottingham Forest will steadfastly reject this bid as well. Here, a British transfer record is needed for Anderson to put on the sky blue shirt.
Last summer, Newcastle pressured Liverpool to pay £130 million for Alexander Isak, Nottingham Forest are demanding that City exceed this record.
