RB Leipzig sack manager – new round of change for Antonio Nusa

RB Leipzig is the flagship of the Red Bull group, with Jürgen Klopp as Global Head of Soccer. The coaching legend has been brought in to build a football machine, which will not only assert itself in the minor leagues, but which will rise in the top five and have a straw into UEFA’s prize box with the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League. The Bundesliga club is Red Bull’s main candidate for this, but the German club has yet to go all the way to the top. Now, changes are once again being made on the sidelines.

A year ago, Ole Werner signed for RB Leipzig as head coach with a contract until the summer of 2027. For Antonio Nusa, this meant a change from his debut season in 2024/25. At the same time as Nusa is resting after the 4-1 win against Iraq in the World Cup, the RB Leipzig management has made the decision to make a new change on the coaching front.

In the 2025/26 season, Werner led the club to third place in the Bundesliga and a place in the quarter-finals of the DFB-Pokal. Fully approved, seen from the outside, but not in the opinion of the RB Leipzig management (and probably also RB boss Jürgen Klopp).

On Wednesday, RB Leipzig announced they have fired Ole Werner.

-We have spent the last few days conducting a thorough evaluation of the season that has just ended. On Tuesday night, we decided that there was a need for a change in the head coach position. We would like to thank Ole, Tom and Patrick for their great work and commitment to RB Leipzig. They played an important role in our successful reconstruction and in qualifying for the Champions League,” the club writes.

There were 38 official games for Ole Werner. For Antonio Nusa, it will be the third coach in three seasons. If he stays at RB Leipzig, mind you.
