Premier League club on the hunt for a coach will of course call Solskjaer

There is a lot to fall into place at Premier League clubs before the start of the season, especially with a World Cup play-off that “blocks” an entire month this summer. The most important thing is still to have the right coach in house well before preseason. Tottenham secured De Zerbi, who ensured survival in the Premier League. Liverpool have put Andoni Iraola to work at Anfield. Ipswich, on the other hand, is getting ready for the top division, but still without a coach. Not surprisingly, the club management has called Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knew what a witch’s cauldron he was jumping into when he signed with Besiktas in January 2025, but it still sucks when you get fired from status as a long-term coaching solution after 29 games. The history of the proud Turkish big club in recent years shows that 221 days as Besiktas coach were actually of the longer stays.

Now it could be a return to the ball island for the United legend. We remember when Solskjaer was spotted at a Premier League match between Ipswich and Wolverhampton a few years ago, and the English media interpreted it as Solskjaer being considered as the new Wolves manager. It turned out that “our man” was going to attend an Ipswich match with friend and former assistant coach of Kieran McKenna as head coach.

Now Mckenna has stepped down as Ipswich manager after leading the club back to the Premier League, it was time for a break. According to the BBC , Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been called in for talks.

McKenna has lifted the proud club back to the top division – once again – now they will work to keep their place and grow.

The BBC reports Solskjaer and Strasbourg coach Gary O’Neil are top candidates for the job. O’Neill has two brief coaching jobs at Bournemouth and Wolverhampton behind him, but cannot match Solskjaer’s experience and delivery as Manchester United manager – and relationship with successful coach McKenna.
